Biography
Renata Kopac is from Vilnius a charming city in Lithuania with a diverse and exciting art scene. Completing her studies at Savickas Art School and having previously studied at Vienozinskio Art School, Renata graduated with two Master degrees in Fine Art Education and Museum and Galleries Management. Renata has lived in London for 14 years and currently lives in East London and works at ACME studios where she creates incredible vibrant paintings. Art is Renata’s passion, it is her existence and an essential part of her sense of self and her being. It is her way of communicating, reflecting on her life experiences and the questions of meaning they bring.
She constructs her paintings layer by layer using exclusively oils. She uses texture and technique to create a sensation of depth and contrast to bring her objects and people to life. Through colour, she concentrates on beauty and happiness. Colour by its nature can be playful and there is perhaps a childlike quality to a lot of the geometry in her work. In her abstracts, she manipulates and analyse, adding to her works some hidden symbols and allusions. This way, she wants to show the complexity of interrelationships between imagination, reality and its interpretation, in order to heighten the tension between the simplicity of forms and the complexity of ideas behind them.
